The calculation, line by line.
One order, one currency, and costs you can trace. The model is intended for FDM filament printing, using measured or estimated inputs for the actual batch.
Material and machine costs
Filament cost = total grams ÷ 1,000 × filament price per kg
Electricity = watts ÷ 1,000 × batch print hours × price per kWh
Machine cost = batch print hours × machine hourly rate
Reprint reserve = (filament + electricity + machine cost) × reserve % ÷ 100
The machine rate should cover costs such as wear and maintenance without repeating electricity or labor already entered. The reserve is an explicit allowance on print-related costs, not a modeled failure probability.
Labor and fulfilment
Packaging = packaging per part × quantity
Production cost = filament + electricity + machine + reserve + labor + packaging + order shipping + other order costs
All batch fields cover the entire order, even when it uses more than one plate. Shipping expense is built into the quoted unit price, not added as a separate customer charge.
Price, fees and profit
Target unit price = unrounded target order price ÷ quantity, rounded up to cents
Break-even unit price = (production cost + fixed order fee) ÷ (1 − fee % ÷ 100) ÷ quantity, rounded up to cents
Quoted total = quoted unit price × quantity
Estimated fees = quoted total × fee % ÷ 100 + fixed fee
Estimated profit = quoted total − production cost − estimated fees
Estimated margin = estimated profit ÷ quoted total × 100
For a zero quoted total, margin is undefined and displayed as a dash. A custom unit price replaces the calculated target price; it does not change the costs. Combined target margin and percentage fees must be below 100%.
Rounding and boundaries
Internal costs retain precision; amounts display to two decimals. The sum of displayed cost lines can differ from the displayed total by a cent. Provider-specific fee rounding, tiers, refunds, tax and currency conversion are not modeled. Check real charges before agreeing a job.
All entered amounts in one job use the selected currency. Changing the currency does not convert values. Sample prices and costs are examples, not recommended business rates.
